Livraria Lello
One of the world’s most beautiful bookstores.
Livraria Lello is a must-visit for book lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and Harry Potter fans alike. Its neo-Gothic facade, iconic red staircase, and stained glass ceiling create a magical setting that feels like stepping into a fantasy world.
Opened in 1906, the bookstore has inspired generations — and even served as an alleged influence on J.K. Rowling during her time in Porto.

Clérigos Tower
Climb the tower for panoramic views of the city.
A defining feature of Porto’s skyline, the Clérigos Tower is a striking 18th-century baroque bell tower rising 75 meters above the city. Designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni, it offers a 360-degree panoramic view after a climb of 225 steps.
From the top, you'll enjoy breathtaking vista over the historic centre, the Douro River, and even the Atlantic Ocean on a clear day. At its base stands the Clérigos Church, equally rich in detail and history.

Port Wine Cellars
Visit and taste in the iconic wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Across the river from Porto’s historic centre, in Vila Nova de Gaia, you'll find the iconic Port wine cellars, where the world-famous fortified wine is aged and celebrated. These atmospheric spaces offer guided tours, tastings, and multimedia exhibits that tell the story of centuries-old wine craftsmanship.
Some of the most renowned cellars include Taylor’s, Sandeman, Cálem, and Burmester, each offering its own perspective on Porto’s wine legacy.
Lining the riverbank below, you'll see the traditional Rabelo boats, once used to transport wine barrels from the Douro Valley to the city. Today, they serve as beautiful reminders of this heritage and often feature in sightseeing cruises.

São Bento Train Station
Admire the tile panels that depict Portuguese history.
More than just a transport hub, São Bento Station is one of Porto’s most admired landmarks. Its entrance hall is lined with over 20,000 hand-painted azulejos (ceramic tiles), depicting scenes from Portuguese history, daily rural life, and epic battles.
Completed in 1916, the station blends French Beaux-Arts architecture with traditional Portuguese tilework, making it a unique cultural experience even if you're not catching a train.

Dom Luís I Bridge
The Dom Luís I Bridge is one of Porto’s most iconic landmarks, a double-deck iron arch bridge that connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia across the Douro River. Designed in the 1880s by Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel, it stands as both an engineering marvel and a symbol of the city.
